from the artist -

On ‘Infinita’, guitarist and composer Lawson Rollins, member of the acclaimed Latin guitar group Young & Rollins, offers 11 tracks of richly-textured, internationally-inspired original music supported by an ensemble of some of the most accomplished and internationally recognized musicians in their fields. Throughout Infinita, Rollins melds an eclectic mix of Latin and Middle Eastern musical influences with his virtuoso, Spanish-tinged guitar style, creating a lush musical tapestry that pushes the boundaries of world music.

Infinita features the legendary Brazilian singer Flora Purim and percussion superstar Airto Moreira, as well as Persian-American producer and musician Shahin Shahida of the Billboard chart-topping group Shahin & Sepehr, multi-platinum-selling producer Dominic Camardella (Ottmar Liebert, Flora Purim), Grammy winning violinist Charlie Bisharat, Azerbaijani folk instrument virtuoso Imamyar Hassanov, Afghan vocal and harmonium master Humayun Khan, percussionist and drummer Davo Bryant of the Ottmar Liebert band, veteran trumpet player Jeff Elliot (Aretha Franklin, Doc Severinson band), bassist Randy Tico (Strunz & Farah, Flora Purim), and Pejman Hadadi, the world-renowned master of the Persian 'tombak' drum.

Reviews:

“Lawson Rollins' Infinita is a rewarding gem... easily one of the year's best.” -All About Jazz

“Rollins seduces in so many ways that it's almost unfair. His classical tone is gorgeous, his technique is impeccable, his subtle genre blending is compelling, and the cat can play melodies with jaw-dropping, near-demonic speed.” -Guitar Player Magazine, Editor-in-Chief Michael Molenda

"Skilled and graceful fusion that should cause many listeners to sit up and take notice." - Global Rhythm Magazine

"Provocative and seductive...[a] masterful genre-busting collection of Latin, Indian, Persian, Arabic, South American and European sounds.” -The All Music Guide

“It’s impossible to resist the ethnically diverse grooves that drive Lawson Rollins’ new multi-cultural solo debut...There’s such great depth to all eleven tracks, don’t be surprised if INFINITA takes up permanent residence in your car CD player or dominates the Most Played list on your iPod.” -Smoothjazz.com

“The magical way in which Rollins is able to interweave the Latin, Arabic, Persian, and Indian cultures into pieces like ‘Ceremony’ and ‘New World Raga’ only demonstrates just how well connected he is to the very idea of multiculturalism...Infinita: Quite a warm, diverse, and colorful winner.” -Jazzreview.com

“Rollins' guitar playing is outstanding and the song collaborations with internationally recognized musicians is phenomenal. I’m so overwhelmed by the musicianship of this CD I find myself somewhat speechless, a rarity indeed.” -All Access Magazine

"Grade A...a smooth, danceable, exotic journey." -The Salt Lake Tribune
