A musical pedigree is always a double-edged sword. On one hand, it can open a lot of doors for you.
On the other hand, you’d better be prepared to walk through them. That’s one challenge that this Chicago’s singer and songwriter can check off the list.
Think of Cecy Santana’s Sem Voce as her calling card.
Born in São Paulo, she learned her musical craft from her father, Carlos Santana, whose legendary trumpet has graced hundreds of concerts and recordings, notably with Gal Costa and Roberto Carlos.
Dad also happened to hold down the first trumpet chair for the São Paulo and Rio Symphony Orchestras.

Cecy’s style is as authentic as it is diverse, making it worthy of the Best of Brazilian Music Showcase. From dance floor rhythms to soulful, jazzy Bossas, Santana draws on her inner forte with a style all her own.
You’ll hear it on this song featuring Sam Trump; an autobiographical account her personal ups and downs with a lover in the rearview mirror.
Already a top tune for 2019, Cecy Santana’s Sem Voce is the first of many we’ll be talking about when her debut album releases early next year.
