Brazil’s Latin Grammy Nominees for 2024

Brazil's Latin Grammy Nominees for 2024 includes singer Xande de Pilares for Album of The Year.
With more than three million YouTube views for his album 'Xande Canta Caetano', singer Xande de Pilares headlines Brazi'l' 2024 Latin Grammy nominations with Album of The Yaer.

It’s a blockbuster year for Brazilian music. Can the Latin Grammys honor them all?

Brazil’s Latin Grammy Nominees for 2024 make the Latin Grammys as competitive as it gets.

When it comes to the Latin Grammy Awards, there are two ways to look at Brazil.

One is the role of the gifted child that stands out from its siblings. The other is the lovable misfit that just doesn’t blend in with the rest.

The reason is simple. Brazilians speak Portuguese not Spanish. That’s the tip of Iberia’s cultural iceberg; you can read more about it here.

Consequently, Brazil has its own Latin Grammy Awards section for its various musical styles plus an important section for ‘Portuguese Language’ entries. But for the General Categories, Brazil competes head-to-head like every other Latin country.

So for Brazil, every year at the Latin Grammy Awards is a role of the dice. It’s an uphill battle without a better solution.

Some labels and artists won’t say that, but we will.

Brazilian entries for the 2024 Latin Grammies

For 2024, Brazil’s nominations for the 25th Latin Grammy Awards are no exception to what is stated above. So, let’s get the bad news out of the way first.

Once again, Brazil finds itself shut out from nominations for Song Of The Year, Best Pop Vocal Album, Best Pop Song, Best Singer-Songwriter Album, Songwriter of the Year, and Producer of the Year.

Important songs and albums were overlooked. Claudia Villela’s Cartas Ao Vento, Arkadia’s Thank You, Tom Jobim, ‘Baby’ by Daniela Soledade with Nate Najar. Toco’s Riviera, and Ryan DeHues’ Private Parlour (Bossa Vibes) are among them.

But that’s not to say that Brazil is underrepresented this year. You’re sure to be pleased with Brazil’s top contenders for the 25th annual Latin Grammy Awards.

What two things stand out for Brazilian entries? 2024 seems to be the year of the Ao Vivo/Live In Concert album, and in the General Category of Best Engineered Album, Brazil swept all nominations.

The 25th Latin Grammy Awards will air live on Thursday, Nov. 14, 2024. Watch for Connect Brazil’s follow-up story with our exclusive list of Brazilian winners, soon after.

Enjoy!
